DINAMO RIGA
Dinamo Riga can boast considerably more experience than SKA against teams from the NHL, the reason being Riga’s second place finish in the national championship of 1987/1988, which earned the Latvian team the right to play a series of games in the USA and Canada in the winter of 1988/1989. The results, however, were not so impressive: two victories, one tie and four defeats. After this series the Riga men played two more games against NHL clubs back home in Latvia, and finished on the losing side both times. Their current record against NHL teams stands at 9 games played (won 2, tied 1, lost 6).
